Highlights
“The first production” Stutz cars were manufactured by the Carrozzeria Padane in Modena, Italy, towards the end of 1970 as 1971 models. At the time, Padane was manufacturing the Maserati Mistral, Bora, and Indy models under contract for Maserati. Even more so than the Maseratis, the Blackhawk body was constructed painstakingly by hand and fitted with a luxurious leather and wood interior. It was, therefore, true to Virgil Exner’s original design in nearly every way, proving to be a worthy descendant of the Mercer Cobra and Exner’s own Bugatti 101 Roadster.
When Elvis Presley bought the very first car sold by the new Stutz company, their car, the Blackhawk, quickly became the darling of the Hollywood set. Dean Martin, Dick Martin, Lucille Ball, Sammy Davis, Jr., and Debbie Reynolds were among the early buyers. Frank Sinatra reputedly never bought one, as he was angry that Elvis got the first car. However, their success proved short-lived, largely because of its huge $22,500 retail price; enough to buy about four 1971 Lincoln MK IIIs. Today, a mere 14 of these rare and historically significant cars that survive.
The magnificent 1971 Stutz Blackhawk Series I featured here is finished in gorgeous Masons Black over a Black Connolly leather interior featuring beautiful Burled Walnut wood and 24K gold trim. As documented by the company, this vehicle was the very first production Stutz Blackhawk ever produced and delivered new to Elvis Pressley at his Beverly Hills, California home. This quickly became Elvis Presley’s favorite car, and he continued to drive and enjoy it until he acquired a second Blackhawk, which was delivered to the Las Vegas Hilton hotel where he was performing in early 1974.
At that time, Elvis gifted this car to renowned celebrity physician, Dr. Elias Ghanem, who was not only his friend but his personal caretaker in Las Vegas. Mr. Ghanem kept and cherished the Blackhawk until he passed in 2001, whereupon it transferred to a respected private collection. Throughout Elvis’ lifetime, he owned three Stutz and leased another for use in California. Of the three he owned, two are in the Graceland Museum and are therefore unlikely to ever be made available for purchase.
As such, this is an incredible opportunity to not only own the first Elvis Presley Stutz, but acquire what will most likely be the only one of his Blackhawks to ever be offered to the public. These cars are well known to have been among his favorites; his 1973 Stutz remained with him until his passing in 1977. In fact, it is a Stutz that he drove in the last known photograph of him alive, one where he was leaving Graceland shortly after midnight. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own what is one of the most iconic of Elvis Presley’s numerous vehicles to ever come to market. We proudly offer this Stutz Blackhawk to the most discerning collector, investor, or enthusiast who appreciates this car’s provenance and celebrity ownership. This iconic motorcar will be the perfect addition to any premier collection or museum!

Finance rates as low as 8.9%.
We know that classic car financing can pose a unique challenge. Although a vintage or exotic car can be an excellent investment, some financial institutions attempt to apply standard “used car” rules for financing a classic car, which in many cases can make loan approval difficult.
We work closely with many banking institutions that understand and recognize the collector value of classic cars and view them as an investment, which allows us to help you get the financing you need so that you can have the car you have dreamed of.
Terms available up to 144 Months
